Ever since Salt & Char opened I’ve gotten a lot of questions about whether or not they’ll change their menu or how they’ll sustain the local crowd once track season ends, and I think we just got an answer. Or at least a first step!

Salt & Char has announced that they’ll now be open for lunch and brunch this fall season.

I like lunch, but it’s the brunch that I’m really excited about. The braised pork belly eggs benedict sounds AMAZING. With really only one major brunch competitor in town (Max London’s) I think this news is a win-win for us locals.

See the press release below for more details —

Salt & Char is excited to introduce its new weekday Lunch hours and Weekend Brunch experience this fall season. Located in Saratoga Springs, Salt & Char’s new weekday lunch and weekend brunch concepts draw inspiration from bold flavors and market-fresh ingredients found in the Hudson Valley.

As autumn begins, with the promise of hearty new seasonal foods, Salt & Char’s brunch offers a selection of sweet and savory dishes to delight in during the weekend. The new brunch menu is available on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m., with a variety of dishes ranging from traditional breakfast foods like Eggs Benedict and French Toast to more lunch-inspired items such as Roasted Chicken Breast and Simply Grilled Branzino.

In addition to Salt & Char’s signature cuts of regionally farm-raised steak offerings, the new brunch menu will include the following dishes:

Brioche French Toast cranberry apple compote, spiced pecans
Braised Pork Belly Eggs Benedict buttermilk biscuit, béarnaise sauce, fingerling potatoes
Eggs Florentine spinach, parsley, mushrooms, mornay sauce au gratin
Gravlax Eggs Benedict potato latke, dill hollandaise, mixed greens
Quiche du Jour assorted greens
Dry Aged Beef Burger pretzel bun, aged cheddar, marsala onions, fries
Scottish Salmon Burger pretzel bun, kimchi, white soy aioli, fries

Lunch will highlight many of the favorites seen on the Salt & Char dinner menu, but will also add Burgers to the daytime menu. Salt & Char will be open for lunch during the weekday on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 a.m.

“Our new menus are inspired by the bounty of fresh and high-quality local ingredients found in the Hudson Valley”, says Executive Chef Braden Reardon. “We are excited to expand our offerings to include an expansive weekend brunch and weekday lunch service for our customers.”

In much wealthier areas in Connecticut and some other spots in New England, these places come and go. The price point is laughable for a 38 dollar tuna steak and a 17 dollar lobster chowder (that’s truly laughable). Sorry but most of these new Saratoga eateries are under the crush of some heavy overhead…called rent. How many suckers from Clifton Park, Massapequa, and Monclair will fork (no pun) that out. The price better match the product and most of these places don’t come close. .just mho. John Greenwich CT.
