Restaurant Review: Farmers Hardware

It’s such an exciting time to be in Saratoga right now. Even though I feel like new things are just about always popping up, right before track season is when we typically see the most new restaurants opening.

When I first read about Farmers Hardware, I couldn’t help but feel all the feels. A new brunch place!? A creative and fun menu? The revamping of an old historic building?!!?

Three MAJOR checks off my list.

So once I saw they were opening in late June, I wanted to get there ASAP to check it out. Naturally, I was in the midst of moving at the same time… which is why it took me about three weeks to actually get in there.

BUT I did it, and boy oh boy am I pumped for this addition to the food scene.

First and foremost, let’s chat about the bacon that’s made quite the name for itself.

Sticky Bacon.

This bacon is smothered in sweet stuff, hence the “sticky” name. If you’re into the whole sweet/savory thing, this bacon was made for you. The great news is that all of the “mains” on their menu come with one market side… and the bacon is an option.

I didn’t take a picture, but my bacon could have been a little crispier. I think everyone has a preference when it comes to bacon, and my ideal way of cooking it is until it’s almost burnt. With that being said, I still ate 2/3 slices with delight.

Alright so now that I have the bacon talk out of the way, let’s talk about the main dishes.

When I saw the dragon bowl on the menu I knew it was made for me.

A mixture of greens, quinoa, roasted sweet potato, toasted shredded coconut, chickpeas, avocado, fried egg and a thai peanut dressing makes the dragon bowl quite the hefty meal.

But… it’s something you can feel super good about. And it tastes like heaven.

Idk how they came up with that mixture of flavors and textures, but they all work in perfect harmony.

I honestly can’t wait to go back and try some of their other menu items, like the sweet potato tots, garden frittata, tex-mex turkey burger, ETC ETC.
