Max London’s Introduces New Cocktail

New Orleans Cocktail (Vieux Carré)

Kicking off Mardi Gras the right way, Max London’s is offering this classic New Orleans cocktail for Mardi Gras – the New Orleans Cocktail (Vieux Carré).

“This cocktail is certainly a great way to “go big” before the Lenten season and it’s currently being offered on their winter cocktail menu.

Named for the French Quarter in New Orleans (a.k.a. the Vieux Carré), this sophisticated, spirits-driven cocktail represents the Big Easy very well – a fun and potent blend of diverse flavors.”

I can say from my own experience that this potent cocktail is just what you need after a long day of work. It’s strong, yet approachable and it certainly will get you from sober to buzzed in a shorter period of time. That must be why it comes at a cost of $16. Well, that and it’s literally all liquor.

Anyway, Max London’s was kind enough to share with me the full recipe for this beverage, if any of you brave people feel like making it at home. I also have a sped up version of one of my favorite bartenders making it at Max London’s (below). Enjoy!

New Orleans Cocktail (Vieux Carre) – $16

¾ ounce Bulleit Small Batch Rye

¾ ounce Jean Luc Pasquat Cognac

½ tablespoon Benedictine

¾ ounce Carpano Sweet Vermouth

1 dash Peychaud Bitters

Combine and stir all ingredients in a mixing glass; strain into an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with orange twist & a cherry.
