Well, it’s here again. It’s time for another Chowderfest, and I feel like it was just yesterday that I drowned myself in 21 dairy-heavy cups of chowder at the last one.
This year, I am not quite as ambitious as I was last year, primarily because every year I get older, the worse I feel when I eat copious amounts of chowder.
But because I love you guys so much and I know how many of you like to see my updates throughout the day, I will still be out and about and will try AT LEAST 10 chowders. There’s my promise to you.
So where am I looking to hit up this year based on what they’ll be serving? Here are my top picks for Chowderfest 2017:
Airstream Catering – Andouille, Bacon & Poblano Chowder
Boca Bistro – Bacon & corn clam chowder w/ a cheddar biscuit
Brook Tavern – Caribbean sweet potato chowder
Campagna Restaurant – Italian corn & sausage chowder
Dunning Street Station – Shrimp & lobster chowder w/ bacon shrimp toast garnish
Hattie’s Restaurant – Fried chicken & tasso chowder
The Local – Vermont heady chowder
Moby Rick’s (serving at Savory Pantry) – Thai-curry soup w/ shrimp & scallops
Peabody’s – New England clam chowder
Salt & Char – Shrimp, clam & chorizo chowder w/ herbed oyster crackers
Honorable Mentions:
Druther’s & Comfort Kitchen – Both of these restaurants are musts for me every year, but they like to keep what they’re serving TOP SECRET for whatever reason. So we’ll just have to wait and see what they’re serving tomorrow!
