Oh hi, it’s me. I have been to hell and back in the past two months, and just found out my dog has to have surgery AGAIN to close up what hasn’t healed from her amputation. YAY.
No but really, it could be a lot worse, so I’m thankful this chapter will be closed in a little over two weeks and my dog will be 100% healed and cone free.
As you can imagine, I haven’t gotten out much lately, which is why my writing has been pretty scarce.
One place I have been going whenever I can get out of the house is Taverna Novo.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know once I find a spot I love, I tend to keep going back and back because reliability is everything.
Taverna Novo is just that.
For starters, I’m obsessed with the Polpo Grigliato (Grilled Octopus.)
The octopus is served with cannellini beans, garlic, lemon & herbs.
I’d say I probably order octopus more than the average person, and I’ve never experienced anything cooked more perfectly than it is at Taverna Novo. I’ve even considered ordering a double of this dish and eating just that for dinner. Not kidding.
The overall menu is pretty robust, with enough options for all taste buds but not too many where it’s overwhelming.
I often go for the pizza because, well, pizza.
You know when you start dating someone and you can’t stop thinking about that person? That’s my relationship with the pizzas at Taverna Novo.
Cooked in a true wood fired oven, pictured above is the Melanzane + Zucchini, with san marzano pomodoro, grilled eggplant, zucchini, fresh mozzarella, basil & parmigiano reggiano.
The chances of me going and grabbing this exact meal tonight are PRETTY high.
If you haven’t been to Taverna Novo yet, you seriously need to go.
My tip: Get there early and sit at the bar. Have a glass of wine on tap (really all the wines here are exceptional), and enjoy a casual, delicious dinner.
Happy Friday, everyone!
