What’s New This Week 2/24

February 24, 2016

It’s hump day, and even though we’re halfway through the week, there’s lots happening starting tomorrow.

Let’s have a look, shall we?

First off, tomorrow Hamlet & Ghost reopens. They’ve been closed since Feb. 15th because of a pipe burst in the apartment above the cocktail bar.

Now that they’ll be open again, I highly recommend visiting. You may have to try and make reservations though… no standing at the bar is allowed. Also, the food is bomb, so again, reservations are ideal. I’d offer suggestions for food and beverage, but as far as I know, they’re still evolving both the cocktail and food menu, so many of the things I had the first night I visited might not be on the menu.

But just in case, get the rum old fashioned for a cocktail and for food, the cast iron pizzetta. Trust me on these.

Moving a little southward, the much anticipated Troy Kitchen will be opening this Friday to the public at 5pm. Whether you live in Troy and can easily get there or you (like me) are trying to explore outside of Saratoga a little more often, Troy Kitchen is going to help a lot with that.

Troy Kitchen

Sure, you might be wondering what Troy Kitchen actually is. They’re calling it a “luxury food court” with four different restaurants, entertainment, beer and wine bar, and naturally, a coffee shop. Sitting at 77 Congress Street in Troy, NY, the owner and mastermind behind this project is Cory Nelson. At the ripe age of 27, he’s only a year older than me and doing big things. Talk about life goals.

Alright, so if you Saratogians can’t make it out on Friday night to Troy for the big opening, I’m going to do you a solid and visit for myself to get you the scoop. Follow my Facebook/Instagram/SnapChat/Twitter for updates, because chances are the blog post won’t make it up until Monday.

Finally, I’m going to Manchester, VT this weekend for a little family getaway, so if you guys have any recommendations for things to do besides outlet shop, I’d love to hear from you!

Head to Brasserie L’Ousteau while you’re in Manchester. Seriously old-school French food. The bone marrow is fantastic , great escargot, and they actually serve duck l’orange!

If you’re looking to grab a bite in Manchester try Cilantro Tacos or Ponce Bistro. Both are amazing! Also, for a good hike try out Mt. Equinox. Enjoy Manchester!
