Things to Do: Independence Day in Saratoga

July 3, 2018

How about that weather lately? Wowzas it’s been hot, and the 4th is supposed to be just sticky icky.

(FYI – that’s not me complaining. That’s just me stating a fact.)

So let’s talk about things to do that may or may not make you sweat through your clothes within an hour on your day off.

First, there’s Saratoga’s All American Celebration which includes the annual 4th of July Parade, the BBQ & Dessert Festival, as well as the Fireworks Display at the end of the night.

The BBQ & Dessert Fest is free to attend, and is just $1 per sample. After trying them all, you can vote for your favorites in each category.

The fireworks take place in Congress Park as usual, and this is pretty much the busiest fireworks display of the year, so I suggest getting there early if you want a place with an ideal view.

Next up, the Esperanto Doughboy Eating Contest. This takes place right after the Firecracker4 Race, because who wouldn’t want to run four miles and then mow down on 20 doughboys?

The contest will take place at Farmer’s Hardware this year at approximately 10:15am.

Finally, there’s just the thought of being on the lake tomorrow or being near any body of water that can refresh you from this killer heat. I saw that 9 Miles East is open tomorrow, which means they’ll be slinging pizzas all day. Just an idea!

Whatever you decide to do tomorrow, stay safe and don’t be an asshole and drink and drive. Please.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

You didn’t mention the Firecracker 4. There’s over 3000 participants.

Actually, I did mention the Firecracker4, which took place right before the doughboy eating contest! Read above 🙂
