Park Side Closes, 2 New Restaurants Opening

February 19, 2018

SUCH sad news to see yesterday that Park Side Eatery on Phila Street will be closing their doors after five years, and ending their catering business after 18 years. Today (February 19th) will be their final day operating in Saratoga, so if you want to make sure you get your final fix of your favorite menu item, get there before closing!

I’m going to miss their omelette which I devoured pretty much every time I was in there, but also… the doughnuts. WHAT WILL I DO WITHOUT THE DOUGHNUTS?

Here’s a link to their Facebook post announcing their closing.

Next up, Taverna Novo will be opening on Beekman Street on March 1st! I had written a little snippet on this restaurant back in November, but they just announced over the weekend that they will be open for business on March 1st. This restaurant will be opening where Restaurant at 62 Beekman was previously.

Like I’ve said before, I’m super excited about this one. I’ve been seeing pictures of pizza being tested at the restaurant for weeks now and I feel like it’s going to be the perfect casual dining spot with an exceptional wine list. Anyway, stay tuned for the grand opening of that!

Finally, if you didn’t already know, Saratoga Brewing Company closed on Excelsior Ave last month. It was sudden, and unfortunate.

Now we’re learning that there are plans for a space right near the old Saratoga Brewing Company building (not the same building) at 250 Excelsior Ave, and guess what… it also has a little something to do with beer!

The Daily Gazette reports, “Next month, Racing City Brewing Co. and Oliva Winery will open at a nearly 25,000-square-foot former FedEx distribution center at 250 Excelsior Ave.” With a tasting room in the front and the brewery in the back, they are also hoping to add “high-end bar food” to the mix after the first six months of operating. WOWOWOWWOOWOW that’s a lot of news to digest on a Monday morning. I’ll report more as I hear/see it, but for now, chew on all of that!
