Things to do

Just a typical Saturday at the Saratoga Farmer’s Market

August 13, 2012

Saturday morning consisted of getting up, drinking a cup of coffee, throwing on some gym clothes (gotta have some ambition, right?) and walking down to the Saratoga Farmer’s Market.

The Saratoga Farmer’s Market is located on High Rock Ave every Saturday (May-Oct) from 9am to 1pm. With over 50 vendors, all from within 50 miles of Saratoga, it’s no surprise that the Saratoga Farmer’s Market is #1 in the state and one of the best in the Nation.

From fresh flowers to herbs, baked good and burritos, the Farmer’s Market really has anything anyone could ever ask for. I’d have to say the best part is of course the fresh produce. There’s really nothing like eating a vegetable and knowing exactly who grew it and where it came from. Some big time local supporters are restaurant including Max Londons, 50 South, Comfort Kitchen and Elizabeth’s Table to name a few. In fact, I saw Comfort Kitchen’s owner Rory Moran traveling across Lake Ave with a tower of fresh goods from the market early that morning!

My big purchase at the Farmer’s Market? This little guy:

Well, it might not have been a big purchase, but it was the type of buy that’ll keep giving back! I LOVE fresh basil, but have never had any luck keeping it alive. Now, I’m determined. If I fail this time, I’m not worthy of owning a basil plant, and I will accept it.

So whether you’re a local Saratogian or a visitor for the weekend, the Saratoga Farmer’s Market is a place you must go to. It’s an experience you want to have, and once you taste what fresh food really tastes like, you’ll have a tough time going back to store bought.

What’s you’re favorite part of the Farmer’s Market? Tell me about it!
