Did Someone Say ‘Vegan’?

February 27, 2023

You know, it’s kind of crazy to me that the word “vegan” still has so much stigma around it. The idea of veganism has evolved SO much, but that title still carries around a pretty negative perception from carnivores, and I don’t totally understand why.

Enter Saratoga’s Broadway Deli, a deli known for its meat-heavy menu, now offering a weekly vegan lunch special every Wednesday that (here’s the kicker)… pretty much sells out EVERY week. THE IRONY!

At the beginning of each month (or end of the month in this case), the deli posts the upcoming month’s specials to their Facebook page, and I’m excited to share the March specials here. BONUS: March has FIVE Wednesdays instead of four, so we get to see an extra week!

I’ve seen so much hype on social media around these specials week after week that I had to do myself a solid and try one myself. When I tell you it’s 100% worth the hype, I mean it.

Earlier in February, I ordered the Crispy Artichoke Sandwich, which came with perfectly fried artichokes tossed in buffalo sauce, crispy potato chips, vegan slaw, and tomato on a toasted bun. Plus two housemade pickles, of course.

This was sloppy perfection. The heat from the buffalo sauce combined with the crunch from the potato chips gave me serious buffalo chicken sandwich vibes without any of the meat. 10/10.

In addition to the sandwich, it wouldn’t be a complete order from Saratoga’s Broadway Deli without some of their Matzo Ball Soup.

I don’t know if you know this about me, but I’m a pretty big soup connoisseur, and this soup ranks in my top five favorite soups of all time. Whether you’re sick, need a little comfort in your day, or you just want something delicious, this soup will cure any ailments. You won’t regret it.

One more note for anyone considering jumping on the vegan bandwagon: I highly recommend planning out your Wednesday orders in advance, because as I mentioned above… these bad boys sell out fast!
